Hi, my name is Jeremy.

I grew up as a church kid, going to a little white country church with 75 relatives.  I was willingly immersed in a church culture: dressing up for church, shaking hands, going to Sunday School, eating too much at potlucks, memorizing the harmonies of hymns, attending church camps and as many youth activities as my folks would allow.  But far more important than my experience of this subculture was when I began, slowly, to take Jesus seriously and to take the teachings of the Christian faith seriously.

I also never forgot the time when a man in my home congregation bought a van and started to bring so-called "street kids" to church.  By my standards at the time they didn't dress right, talk right, or act right.  In short, they weren't a part of my proper, wholesome, churchy culture.  I thought the perfect world of my little family congregation was being messed up by Jack Daniels T-shirts and kids who weren't as "spiritually mature" as me.  Actually, my perfect world WAS being messed up... by the work of Jesus Christ.

My faith is the most important thing in my life, and as a pastor I'm the spiritual and organizational leader of a community of Christ-followers.  My hope and my goal and my dream is to love and welcome and challenge everybody: both church kids like me who have been shaped by a church culture, as well as people who don't know which end of a hymnal to hold (and don't care).  In a world that is incredibly divided, I want to be a bridge-builder: between people and people, and between people and Christ.  It might sound oversimplified, but I believe the only thing that matters is Jesus Christ.

If you're interested, here's more info:  I got a degree in Pastoral Ministries at Taylor University in Fort Wayne, IN.  I also got a Master's of Divinity Degree from Bethany Seminary in Richmond, IN, where I graduated with honors in Ministry Studies.  It has been my absurdly good fortune to marry Mary Ashworth, a fantastic partner for life and for ministry.

If you're reading this and you're in the Fort Wayne area, stop by Lincolnshire sometime.  We aren't perfect, and we don't claim to be.  But if you're looking for a spiritual home, I promise you'll be welcomed.
